Cape Town's newest radio station appoints United Stations to drive advertiser focus

MAGIC 828am hit the airwaves in October, and is making waves on the Cape Town radio scene! The station is bringing back the good old days and playing chart toppers from the 1960's to 00's. Programming is designed to appeal to a cosmopolitan audience between the ages of 20 and 60. Listeners can expect to hear the sounds of Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Doors, Duran Duran, Bruce Springsteen, Queen and even South African favourites such as Freshly Ground and Johnny Clegg.

Although the station promises less talk and more music, the lineup boasts the well-known voices of Guy Macdonald, Brian Oxley and Dave Guselli.

The station broadcasts on 828am, which has the great advantage of being unaffected by the mountainous terrain that notoriously plays havoc with FM signals around the Cape. Not being restricted by 'line of sight' beacons, the AM signal has great reach. MAGIC 828am installed its own 25,000 watt transmitter that can be heard throughout the Western Cape, using a standard radio at home or in your car.

United Stations brings a team of seasoned and passionate sales professionals, the tools, the strategy and a brand-focused approach into the partnership that is designed to deliver business results for advertisers on MAGIC 828am.

A partnership approach has been created between United Stations and the station to ensure that a shared passion for radio and advertising is reflected in a professional and creative delivery to advertisers. With more imagination and innovation, MAGIC 828am and United Stations aim to present focused, integrated solutions to advertisers and go beyond traditional airtime campaigns.

"The choice of United Stations was prompted not only by their track record, but more importantly because of their commitment and ability to provide us with dedicated resources and a tailored strategy", says Radio veteran and station MD, Tony Sanderson.

United Stations has committed a Brand Focused business development team led by seasoned radio advertising specialist Tim Partner. Their job will be to marry advertisers' objectives with MAGIC 828 am's initiatives on every possible occasion, utilising a wide range of properties including on-air and online content, sponsorships, promotions, special events and targeted programming.

"We have a resource rich team with a specific focus on MAGIC 828am and its ability to deliver opportunities to advertisers" says Rivak Bunce - MD of United Stations. "We take pride in being a sustaining resource to our partners and it's our reward when we see great results for advertisers and our stations".
